Newport Chippendale Corner Chairs

These two chippendale corner chairs are made of solid mahogany. Completely hand shaped and carved, one chair has hand carved ball and claw feet and one chair has pad feet. These corner chairs are reproductions of an original chair made by renowned furniture maker John Goddard of Newport, Rhode Island  circa 1760. The chair these are based on was sold at Sotheby's auction in 2005 for 1.5 million dollars. Other examples of these original chairs can be seen in the Shelburne Museum, and the Rhode Island Historical Society.
