Cherry Slant Top Desk on Frame

 

  This solid cherry slant top desk is made with Shaker elements, with tapered legs, pinned mortise and tenon joinery, fully hand cut dovetail drawers and case. This desk interior was designed with a traditional look with modern uses. A center opening for a laptop computer, four fully dovetailed drawers, six pigeonholes that fit a variety of envelopes, cards etc., and three large shelves for paper and other larger items.  This desk has solid brass hardware and a beautiful hard rubbed finish with a soft sheen and beautiful patina.    Ht: 40”  Wd” 34”   Dp” 18”

    Shaker furniture was designed by the religious colonies of Shakers founded in America in the last quarter of the 18th century.   This style is characterized by utility, simplicity, and quality craftsmanship.  Shaker furniture shares elements of other furniture styles including, Queen Anne, Sheraton, and Hepplewhite, but removed many of the unnecessary decorative features.  Shaker furniture utilizes straight, uniform lines with no carvings or moldings.
