Shaker Style Desk

 

  This shaker desk was custom made of solid cherry for a clients home office.  Details for this desk include: Tapered legs, six fully dovetailed drawers, turned cherry knobs, and a beautiful hand rubbed finish. This desk has all the features you need for a home office desk with a built in file drawer. This desk can also be made with two file drawers, one on each side.  Options include: solid wood frame and panel back for center of room placement, and a organization box for the desk top with a variety of features including, pigeonholes for mail ,etc. a map or plan box with hinged lid  (pictured below) and extra drawers.

    Shaker furniture was designed by the religious colonies of Shakers founded in America in the last quarter of the 18th century.   This style is characterized by utility, simplicity, and quality craftsmanship.  Shaker furniture shares elements of other furniture styles including, Queen Anne, Sheraton, and Hepplewhite, but removed many of the unnecessary decorative features.  Shaker furniture utilizes straight, uniform lines with no carvings or moldings.
